The wraps have been pulled off the facelifted 2021 Jaguar F-Pace mid-size SUV with a range of tech improvements, along with the introduction of a series of new mild-hybrid petrol-electric drivetrains and perhaps most surprisingly, an improved value equation through more standard equipment and less expensive pricing.
Externally, the F-Pace also gets a fresh look at both the front and at the rear with new bumpers featuring in addition to LED headlights, revised tail-lights, and a new bonnet which makes the model appear much sleeker and visually cohesive.
Just like in the newly launched 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport, all variants offered in the Jaguar F-Pace range will now come with the R-Dynamic package, offering sporty design details inside and out.
The Australian lineup will comprise three models; the R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, and the range-topping R-Dynamic HSE. Expect to see an update of the high-performance SVR model in the not too distant future as well. In what can only be seen as a very rare occurrence, Jaguar has decided to reduce pricing across the range; the entry-level R-Dynamic S P250 AWD comes in at $74,990 plus on-road costs. That’s $2000 less than the outgoing rear-wheel-drive 2.0-litre R-Sport.
The engines have also been reworked, with the the 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder ‘P250’ offering 183kW/365Nm, a 3.0-litre turbo petrol inline six-cylinder ‘P400’ offering 294kW/550Nm and a 3.0-litre turbo diesel inline six-cylinder ‘D300’ offering 221kW/650Nm. While the R-Dynamic S is offered only with the entry level P250 engine, the mid-range R-Dynamic SE can be ordered with all three engines and the top-shelf R-Dynamic HSE comes exclusively with only the P400.
All engines seem to offer decent claimed fuel economy, ranging from 7.4L/100km on the diesel D300 to the P250’s 9.3L/100km. The F-Pace won’t be a slouch either, the P250, D300 and P400 make the sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3, 6.4 and 5.4 seconds respectively.
Perhaps most importantly for a luxury car however, the updated F-Pace features an all-new, vastly improved interior. Jaguar has made broad sweeping changes that go far beyond what manufacturers would usually perform during a facelift. The design inside is all-new, with Jaguar’s latest ‘Pivi Pro’ infotainment system featuring on the curved glass 11.4-inch high-definition infotainment screen and a 12.3 inch screen in front of the driver, along with a heads up display.
The F-Pace also now features noise cancellation for both road and engine noise, making for what should be a serene driving environment.
The updated F-Pace is due in Australia at the start of 2021, with Jaguar hoping that its newfound tech prowess and sharpened pricing can lead to improved sales.
