The 2025 Skoda Elroq has officially debuted as the electric successor to the petrol-powered Karoq, continuing the Czech brand’s ongoing pursuit of electrification. Set to arrive in Australia in the second half of 2025, the Elroq will be Skoda’s second electric vehicle (EV) on offer locally, following the larger Enyaq, which is expected locally in December this year. Under the body of the Elroq is the same ‘MEB’ platform as its larger sibling and up to 560km of range (WLTP) will be available.

According to the brand, the Elroq is “the Czech brand’s first all-electric model in the strategically important compact SUV segment, offered at a very competitive price.”

“At the same time, it is the first model to adopt Skoda’s new Modern Solid design language, combining robustness, functionality and authenticity.”

The Elroq incorporates the latest iteration of Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language which is found in the rest of the lineup, showcasing Skoda’s new ‘Tech-Deck’ face which features a sleek, thinner grille adorned with S-K-O-D-A lettering.

Standard LED headlights, designed with a striking ‘four-eyes’ graphic, can be upgraded to Matrix LEDs in select markets. A full-width ‘Light Band’ connects the headlights across the grille, although this too is an optional feature.

Jumping inside, the Elroq will be available with one of four distinct interior themes, which will likely correspond to the various trim levels when the mid-size SUV goes on sale: ‘Studio’, ‘Loft’, ‘Lodge’, and ‘Sportline’. The Studio theme offers a basic black fabric upholstery, while Loft elevates the experience with leatherette accents and recycled fabric in Moss Green.

The Lodge theme adds a touch of flair with ‘TechnoFil’ material in grey, accented by orange contrasts. The Sportline package enhances both the interior and exterior, lowering the ride height and introducing sporty design elements, including carbon-look detailing and suede sports seats with integrated headrests.

A standout feature across all variants is the 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, which comes equipped with Skoda’s Laura voice assistant and ChatGPT. Complementing this is a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional head-up display. Safety features include nine airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, emergency assist, and European-mandated Intelligent Speed Assist, integrated with a traffic sign recognition system. Australian features are yet to be confirmed.

While Skoda has yet to reveal the Elroq’s exact exterior dimensions, its boot capacity is slightly reduced compared to the Karoq, offering 470-litres with the rear seats up (down 51L) and 1,580L when the second row is folded (down 230L).

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB EV platform, which also underpins the Enyaq and Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5 siblings, the Elroq will be available with four drivetrain options. Details for the flagship model are still pending, but here’s a look at the confirmed European variants (Australian details are TBC):

  • Elroq 50: 55kWh battery, 125kW/310Nm, 0-100 km/h in 9.0 seconds, 370km range
  • Elroq 60: 63kWh battery, 150 kW/310Nm, 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, 400km range
  • Elroq 85: 82kWh battery, 210 kW, 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, 560km range
  • Elroq 85x: 82kWh battery, 220kW, 0-100km/h in TBC, 560km+ range

DC fast charging in the Elroq is offered at up to 145kW in the 50, 165kW in the 60 and 175kW in the 85 and 85x, for claimed 10 to 80 per cent recharge times of 25, 24 and 28 minutes respectively. AC charging at up to 11kW is also available.

Globally, Skoda says that the rear-wheel drive models will launch first, with the all-wheel drive flagship set to join the lineup the following year. Skoda Australia has yet to announce which variants will hit local showrooms, but pricing and specifications are expected to be revealed closer to the July 2025 launch.
