Ahead of the first Australian deliveries in late November, local specifications for the Deepal S07 have been announced by the brand’s local distributor, Inchcape. Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed, however, the S07 will be launched locally in one highly-specified model with the only options being larger wheels and colour choice. Standard equipment includes an augmented reality head-up display, a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade and a full suite of active safety equipment. Competition includes the Kia EV5, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Subaru Solterra and Toyota bz4X.
Cormac Cafolla, General Manager Deepal Australia, said: “The Deepal S07 offers Australian consumers a practical and innovative SUV that combines futuristic design elements with advanced technology to create a stylish, enjoyable and comfortable rear-wheel drive mid-sized electric SUV.
“Deepal is about more than cars; it’s about electric vehicles that elevate your driving experience through harmoniously blending nature, technology and human experiences, and connecting with communities–and the S07 is a true reflection of this commitment.”
Launched in Australia at an event in Bondi on Tuesday evening, the Deepal S07 will be offered in Australia with a 79.97kWh Ternary Lithium battery for a claimed 475km of range on the WLTP cycle. It can be DC fast charged at up to 92kW for a 30 to 80 per cent charge in as little as 35 minutes, while AC charging is up to 11kW for a full charge in around eight hours.
Powering the S07 is a single motor on the rear axle, making 160kW of power and 320Nm of torque for a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds. The S07 measures 4,750mm long, 1,930mm wide, 1,625mm tall and rides on a 2,900mm long wheelbase, making it similar to the Tesla Model Y in overall size. Its boot measures 445-litres with the seats up and 1,385L with them folded, and it also features a 125L front boot in the nose. Deepal will cover its range with a seven-year/160,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/240,000km warranty on the high-voltage battery.
