Not long after its global reveal a few months ago, the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq has been priced for Australia ahead of its local on sale date later in the year. Pricing kicks off at $51,990 drive away (+$2,500) for the entry level Style, while the top-spec RS is now $73,990 drive away (-$1,000). All models are better equipped than the pre-facelifted car.
“Since the Kodiaq was introduced in 2017 and the first Kodiaq RS in 2019, ŠKODA has built a range of SUVs, including Kamiq and Karoq, which have brought our challenger brand to greater attention,” Skoda Australia Director Michael Irmer said.
“Kodiaq has significantly contributed to the brands perception in Australia and has brought all the attributes of a ŠKODA into the large SUV category. It is a fully family functional seven seat capable SUV with class-leading drivetrains and, of course, the array of ‘Simply Clever’ features that always set Skoda apart.”
As we previewed when the car was revealed, the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq ushers in a new look for the company’s largest SUV. The headlights and taillights feature a new shape, while the interior has new materials and technology across the range. New alloy wheels also feature, while the car’s ride and handling has also been tuned.
Under the bonnet of the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq is mostly unchanged with Style and Sportline models continuing to use a 132kW/320Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The top-spec Kodiaq RS has switched its predecessor’s 176kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine for the same 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that features in the Volkswagen Golf GTI. All models are all-wheel drive and use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
New features to the Kodiaq range include Matrix LED headlights (standard on the Sportline and RS), animated rear indicators, welcome lighting, boot nets (which were standard pre-MY21) and for the RS, full leather upholstery with ventilated front seats and a space saver spare wheel.
