The electric 2023 Fiat 500e has finally been confirmed for Australian sales in July 2023. Priced from $52,500 plus on-road costs for the single highly-specified La Prima grade, the 500e will be fully loaded for Australia – at least initially – and will have no direct competitors except the Mini Cooper SE. Using a 42kWh battery for a range of up to 311km on the WLTP cycle, the 500e uses an 87kW electric motor and can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in as little as 35 minutes.
According to Fiat, the 500e is “totally new but unmistakably Fiat 500, the Fiat 500e will be launching in Australia mid-year and is a clear evolution of the original 1957 Fiat 500, incorporating quintessential design cues and pairing them with an extraordinary electric experience.”
In Australia, the 2023 Fiat 500e is only to be offered with the highest specification of battery. The battery offered locally is a 42kWh unit which gives 311km of range on the WLTP cycle. It can be charged in as little as 35 minutes from 0 to 80 per cent using a DC charger – its maximum charging rate is 85kW. Under the bonnet is an 87kW/220Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 9.0 seconds.
