Ahead of its release in September 2022, Australian pricing and specifications have been announced for the 2023 Genesis GV60 electric SUV. Kicking off from $101,700 plus on-road costs, the GV60 uses the same ‘e-GMP’ platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, though it offers a higher level of quality and a performance variant not yet offered on its siblings in Australia.
“We are delighted to introduce GV60, our first dedicated electric vehicle, as the beginning of Genesis Motor’s journey towards electrification,” Head of Genesis Motors Australia, Connal Yan said.
“In an exciting year for Genesis, GV60 will be the first of three EVs to launch locally in 2022, and will be closely followed by Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70.
Using the same e-GMP platform as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, the 2023 Genesis GV60 will come a choice of two drivetrains in Australia: either the 234kW (74kW front + 160 kW rear) with 605Nm standard car or the 360kW (180kW and 180kW rear) with 705Nm Performance. Activating the Performance’s boost mode gives full power for 10 second boosts, allowing the GV60 to hit 100km/h in just 4.0 seconds.
Both variants draw power from a 77.4kWh lithium ion battery pack, which provides up to 470km of range on the WLTP test cycle – the Performance offers just 4km less at 466km. The GV60 can charged at up to 350kW, which gives a 10 to 80 per cent charge in as little as 18 minutes. A five-year Chargefox subscription or an AC home wall box charger (including installation) is included in the purchase price.
Standard equipment on the 2023 Genesis GV60 includes 20-inch wheels, all-LED lighting, auto lights and wipers, digital side mirrors, roof rails, a panoramic glass roof, keyless entry and fingerprint-based start, an electric tailgate with kick-to-open functionality, a leather dashboard, doors and centre console, Nappa leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, 18-way electrically adjustable driver’s and 12-way electrically adjustable front passenger seating, driver’s seat memory and massaging functionality, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, rear door sunshades, LED ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, satellite navigation, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and wireless phone charging.
Safety kit includes eight airbags, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian, cyclist and intersection assist, blind-spot monitoring with a blind-spot camera and braking, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, rear auto braking, auto high beam, lane keep assist with lane follow assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera, safe exit assist, a heads-up display and remote smart parking assist.
