Kia Australia has announced local specifications for the 2023 Kia EV6 GT, which arrives in January 2023. Sitting atop the local EV6 lineup, the EV6 GT adds a number of performance touches on top of the next-step-down GT-Line, including a 430kW/740Nm dual-motor electric drivetrain, 21-inch alloy wheels and sports seats. Kia is yet to announce local pricing.
“The GT will be a very exciting addition to the EV6 range and just like the Air and GT-Line models launched earlier this year, it is attracting a remarkable level of attention,” said Damien Meredith, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Australia.
“Here is a car that combines the power, performance and agility of a track worthy sports car, while also providing comfort, on road driveability and practicality for everyday use.
Under the bonnet of the 2023 Kia EV6 GT is the same dual-motor all-wheel drive electric drivetrain as the EV6 GT-Line AWD, but with the performance turned up to 430kW of power and 740Nm of torque. This allows the EV6 GT to hit 100km/h from a standstill in as little as 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 260km/h.
The EV6 GT uses the GT-Line’s 77.4kWh battery pack that provides a range of up to 410km. It can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in as little as 18 minutes thanks to charging capability of of up 350kW.
Backing up the boost in performance is a range of mechanical changes, including larger brakes (380mm ventilated front discs and 360mm rear discs versus 325mm on both the front and rear on the Air and GT-Line), an electric limited-slip differential, 21-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, Australian-tuned adaptive suspension and steering and even a drift mode.
Other equipment upgrades compared with the GT-Line include faux leather and suede upholstery with bucket front seats, green brake callipers, Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam, sequential front and rear indicators and heated rear seats.
That’s on top of the lengthy standard equipment list already featured on the GT-Line, including automatic all-LED lighting, auto wipers, a sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats with heating, a heated steering wheel, multiple drive modes, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, satellite navigation with live traffic, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, keyless entry and start, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents and remote park assist.
Safety kit includes seven airbags including a front centre unit, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian, cyclist and intersection assist, lane keep assist with lane trace assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear auto braking, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera, blind-spot cameras, driver attention monitoring, rear occupant alert, a virtual reality heads-up display, speed sign recognition and adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality.
