The 2023 Kia Seltos was revealed in August and now three months later, Kia Australia has revealed local pricing and specifications. The Seltos is a big seller for the South Korean auto maker, as it is in the popular small SUV category rivalling cars like the Mazda CX-30 and Toyota Corolla Cross. The upgraded Seltos introduces new equipment for all models, new styling details and even an upgraded drivetrain.
Depending on which variant you choose the new 2023 Kia Seltos is between $2,200 and $2,900 more expensive than the previous model. Now starting at $31,690 drive away for the base ‘S’ 2.0-litre front-wheel drive model and it tops out with the $47,690 drive away for the GT-Line fitted with the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine paired with all-wheel drive.
Changes to the new model are that the entire range now has more safety features. All models now include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic assist, intelligent speed limit assist and lane follow assist. The safety pack that used to be optional on the previous shape car has now been made standard.
Rear air vents are now standard across the board, as are USB-C inputs and, finally, alloy wheels. The climate control panel has also been redesigned.
The engine options for the new 2023 Kia Seltos are the familiar 2.0-litre petrol four-cylinder which produces 110kW of power and 180Nm of torque and the 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which is mated to an all-wheel drive system. The 1.6L turbo’s power output is up 16kW with an output of 146kW of power and an unchanged 265Nm of torque.
A big change for this new model is that the 1.6 turbo now comes with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission, rather than the previous seven-speed dual-clutch unit.
The base 2023 Kia Seltos S comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, a 4.2-inch digital driver’s display, manual air-conditioning with rear air vents, two rear USB-C ports, roof rails and auto-folding mirrors.
Safety kit includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with forward collision alert, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitoring, lane keep assist with lane departure warning and lane trace assist, intelligent speed assist, safe exit assist, rear occupant alert, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, an alarm, automatic headlights and cruise control. The Seltos S is priced at $31,690 drive away.
Stepping up to the Seltos Sport adds larger 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, rear privacy glass, single-zone climate control, an auto up/down driver’s window, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with digital radio and satellite navigation and auto climate control with an auto defogger – though it loses wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for a more conventional wired setup. The Seltos Sport is priced at $35,390 (a $3,700 premium over the ‘S’).
The Seltos Sport+ adds an auto-dimming rear mirror, lead vehicle departure alert, cyclist detection and junction assist to the AEB system, keyless entry with push button start, cloth and artificial leather seating, a sliding front centre armrest, a rear centre armrest with cup holders, heated exterior mirrors, rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, LED interior lighting, a passenger seat map pocket and the option of the 1.6-litre turbo engine over the Sport. Pricing for the 2023 Kia Seltos Sport+ is $38,490 drive away for the 2.0-litre and $41,990 for the 1.6-turbo.
The top spec range topping 2023 Kia Seltos GT-Line adds larger 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, artificial leather upholstery, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with two person memory functionality, an eight-way power adjustable passenger seat, heated and cooled front seats, a gloss black front grille, satin silver accents on the exterior, LED exterior lighting, a power tailgate, a sunroof, automatic wipers, a heated steering wheel, a heads-up display, ambient interior lighting, wireless phone charging and an eight-speaker Bose sound system over the Sport+. Pricing for the GT-Line 2.0-litre is $44,590 drive away and the GT-Line 1.6-turbo is $47,690.
Colours offered on the 2023 Kia Seltos are the standard ‘Mars Orange’ with ‘Snow White Pearl’, ‘Steel Grey’, ‘Gravity Grey’, ‘Fusion Black’, ‘Neptune Blue’ and the new ‘Phuton Blue’ available at extra cost.
