Only a few days after revealing the 2023 Mazda CX-8, the updated 2023 Mazda CX-5 has been revealed and will launch in Australia in early 2023. A minor model year update aimed at keeping the CX-5 fresh against rivals like the Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson, the 2023 Mazda CX-5 introduces new standard equipment like a 10.25-inch infotainment screen across the range.

Mazda Australia Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi, said the update follows Mazda’s strategy to match and evolve with the changing needs of customers.

“Mazda’s continued focus on improving and evolving product throughout its lifecycle has helped Mazda CX-5 remain a firm favourite SUV in Australia, resonating with customers for its timeless style, functionality and versatility.

“The emphasis of this update is to boost customer connectivity with the car, and follows a significant redesign earlier in 2022, which refreshed and sharpened the looks of the Mazda CX-5.”

Newly standard for the entire 2023 Mazda CX-5 range is the 10.25-inch infotainment screen that previously featured on the top-spec GT SP and Akera grades. It now features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard on the Maxx Sport and above. Complimenting these are faster USB-C ports across the range, replacing the former USB-A ports.

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 range is also the first Mazda in Australia to feature Global Opening, which allows owners to lower the windows from the key fob – though not raise them, unlike competitors like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Karoq. A new colour called ‘Rhodium White’ from the incoming CX-60 is now available across the range.

Finally, the 2023 Mazda CX-5 is also the first Mazda passenger car (bar the BT-50 ute) to feature longer 15,000km service intervals, which will add convenience over the current CX-5’s short 10,000km intervals. The new intervals apply to the CX-5 petrol – diesel models are still 10,000km.
