Ahead of the first deliveries landing in April 2023, Australian pricing and specifications for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek have been announced. Priced from $34,990 plus on-road costs (only $1,800 more than the XV that the Crosstrek replaced), the Crosstrek introduces a new name to Australia, while it’s better equipped than the XV as well. Ordering has commenced now.
Subaru Australia’s Managing Director, Blair Read, said: “We welcome Crosstrek to the
Subaru Australia family as we officially commence orders.
“The Subaru Crosstrek is a small SUV with real SUV credentials; it can zip through urban streets throughout the week and take you off-the-beaten track on the weekend. This is not a jacked up small car; this is a small SUV with real capability.
Using the same Subaru Global Platform as the rest of the Subaru range – bar the BRZ sports car – the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek uses two familiar drivetrains: a 115kW/196Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine or a hybrid version of that engine. Both engines use a CVT automatic transmission tied to Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system. The petrol is rated at 7.2L/100km on a combined cycle (0.2L/100km more than the XV), while the hybrid is rated at the same 6.5L/100km as the XV.
In Australia will be three main specifications: base L, mid-spec R and top-spec S, which the L and S available in either 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre hybrid forms – the R is petrol-only. The $34,990 plus on-road costs Crosstrek 2.0L includes equipment like automatic LED headlights with halogen daytime running lights, roof rails, 17-inch alloy wheels, electric-folding mirrors, cloth trim, dual-zone climate control, an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger and a six-speaker sound system.
Safety kit includes nine airbags, auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, auto emergency steering, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, lane trace assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, a speed limiter, automatic reverse braking, lead vehicle start alert, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, intelligent speed limiting, active driver monitoring, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
The entry-level Crosstrek Hybrid L ($38,590 +ORC) shares the 2.0L’s equipment levels, but adds a 2.0-litre hybrid drivetrain.
The mid-spec Crosstrek R ($38,490 +ORC) adds larger a leather steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera, auto high beam, a front wiper de-icer, self-levelling headlights with cornering lights, LED front fog lights, heated mirrors, ‘premium’ cloth upholstery with heated front seats, sports pedals, rear USB-A and USB-C charging ports, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and an auto-dimming rear mirror.
The top-spec Crosstrek S ($41,490+ORC) and Hybrid S ($45,090 +ORC) then add black or grey leather upholstery, a sunroof, inbuilt satellite navigation, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Colour options include ‘Crystal White Pearl’, ‘Ice Silver Metallic’, ‘Magnetite Grey Metallic’, ‘Crystal Black Silica’, ‘Pure Red’, ‘Offshore Blue Metallic’, ‘Sun Blaze Pearl’, ‘Oasis Blue’, ‘Sapphire Blue Pearl’ and ‘Horizon Blue Pearl’.
