The flagship 2024 BMW i7 M70 has been revealed ahead of a late 2023 Australian release. Priced from $344,900 plus on-road costs, the i7 M70 is the most powerful all-electric product in the BMW lineup with up to 485kW of power and 1,100Nm of torque for a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.7 seconds – in a circa-2,700kg electric large luxury sedan. The M70 will sit on top of the global 7 Series range above the also electric i7 xDrive60 and the petrol-powered 740i, and marks another electric BMW product on top of the iX1, iX3, i4, iX and upcoming i5.
Using the same CLAR platform as the regular i7, the 2024 BMW i7 M70 features a 101.7kWh battery that gives it a WLTP range of between 488km and 560km and energy consumption of between 23.8 and 20.8kWh/100km. Charging up to 22kW on an AC charger and 195kW on a DC charger is possible, with a 170km range extension possible in as little as 10 minutes.
In addition to the performance upgrades, over the regular i7 xDrive60, the M70 also adds M-tuned adaptive air suspension, 21-inch alloy wheels, uprated brakes, M badging, executive lounge seating in the rear with both massaging and ventilation and BMW’s individual frozen metallic paint. BMW M has also tuned the steering and stability control for sportier driving.
Other standard equipment includes automatic all-LED lighting including front and rear daytime running lights, automatic wipers, keyless entry and start with remote start, a panoramic roof, an illuminated front grille, BMW Individual merino and wool upholstery, BMW’s latest 8.5 operating system with an inbuilt eSIM for live services, a 35-speaker Bowers and Wilkins Diamond sound system, a rear seat entertainment screen, a three-mode charging cable, a five-year subscription to Chargefox, a BMW Wallbox for home charging and six years of servicing.
