Australian pricing and specifications for the 2024 Ford Mustang have been revealed ahead of the car’s second quarter 2024 local arrival. Priced from $64,990 plus on-road costs, the seventh-generation Ford Mustang will be available in three models – EcoBoost, GT and Dark Horse – and continues to offer either turbocharged four-cylinder or naturally aspirated V8 powertrain options. The base price has climbed by $12,400 that’s offset by extra equipment, according to Ford.
“We are thrilled to bring the new seventh-generation Ford Mustang to Australia,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia. “The Mustang has always been a favourite among Australian drivers, and the new model takes the experience to a whole new level. It’s sure to make owners smile every time they drive it. We are confident that the new Mustang will be a hit with Australian drivers,” said Birkic.
“The car’s improved performance, handling, and the addition of the Mustang Dark Horse special edition make it a great choice for anyone looking for an exhilarating driving experience.”
While the 2024 Ford Mustang may appear to be an all-new model, it actually uses a revised version of the previous shape car’s platform and body. The new styling is more aggressive and slinkier for a more modern feel, while the interior has been significantly modernised with a lot more technology and better quality than the previous shape car. In front of the driver is a 12.4-inch digital display, while the touchscreen is a new 13.2-inch unit with the latest Ford Sync 4 infotainment software.
Under the bonnet of the 2024 Ford Mustang are two drivetrain choices carried over (but upgraded) from the previous generation of car: a 232kW/475Nm 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 347kW/550Nm 5.0-litre V8 that’s got a slightly different 349kW/548Nm tune in the Dark Horse. The V8 GT coupe and Dark Horse are available with a six-speed manual, but the range is otherwise equipped with a 10-speed automatic as standard. Combined fuel consumption is rated between 9.4L/100km for the EcoBoost to 15.5L/100km for the Dark Horse manual.
