Hyundai Australia has announced local pricing and specifications for the 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan, which is due to go on sale imminently with petrol variants like the Elite and N Line. But the big news is that badge-first hybrid variants are due in the first half of 2024, with a claimed combined fuel consumption rating of just 3.9L/100km. The whole range earns updated styling and more standard equipment, while pricing now starts at $29,000 plus on-road costs thanks to the deletion of variants with manual transmissions.
“Our sporty i30 Sedan has been a popular small car in the Australian market since replacing the Elantra nameplate in October 2020,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ted Lee.
“2024 i30 Sedan is set to build on the model’s momentum with its refreshed style, revised line-up featuring new technology and, in an i30 first, Hybrid powertrain efficiency,” he said.
The most noticeable change with the 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan is its updated exterior styling, with new headlights, bumpers and alloy wheel designs. Dusk-sensing automatic LED headlights are now standard equipment on the entry-level model, while the company’s new front and rear LED signature lighting features from the Elite and above.
Inside the 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan, the changes are less noticeable with front and rear USB-C ports, a revised 4.2-inch trip computer on the base car and variants with the 10.25-inch touchscreen (Elite and above) now feature Hyundai’s BlueLink connected services system.
The biggest news with the updated 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan is the addition of a new hybrid drivetrain that’s also used in cars like the new Kona and Kia Niro. It combines a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 32kW/170Nm electric that draws power from a 1.32kWh battery pack to make a combined 104kW of power and 265Nm of torque.
The combined claimed fuel consumption for the i30 Sedan hybrid is 3.9L/100km – significantly less than the claim for the 2.0-litre petrol drivetrain (6.1L/100km), itself has been updated with a CVT automatic transmission replacing the former six-speed auto. Hybrid base model variants arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2024, with Elite and Premium hybrids due a few months later.
