Kia Motors Australia has announced local pricing and specifications for the 2024 Kia Sorento, which is due in local Kia showrooms imminently. Priced from $50,680 plus on-road costs, the upgraded Sorento’s price has risen by up to $3,520 compared to the pre-updated model it replaces. According to Kia, that price increase is due to increased standard equipment across the range. As before, the Sorento is offered in four models with two main drivetrains with details for both the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants yet to be confirmed by the company.
“The award-winning fourth generation Sorento took the large SUV segment by storm when it was launched in late 2020 and with the arrival of the enhanced model, what was already really good, is now even better,” said Kia Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Damien Meredith.
“The upgrades and improvements offer significant benefits and we believe the Sorento will exceed the expectations of anyone shopping in the seven-seat SUV market.”
A mid-life update for the current-generation Sorento, the updated model ushers in a new front end with styling similar to other latest Kia models like the Picanto and EV9, while the tailights also offer up a new look. A new range of alloy wheels now adorns the whole range in sizes ranging from 17- to 20-inches, while there are new colours on offer as well, including a new ‘Volcanic Sand Brown’ and the ‘Cityscape Green’ seen on the updated Seltos and Picanto.
Inside the 2024 Kia Sorento is a new screen layout with a 12.3-inch touchscreen now standard on all models, which is larger than the pre-facelifted model. The new screen features the company’s latest infotainment software and also features over-the-air updates, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (along with wired). It also features Kia’s Connect live services for features like automatic emergency services contact in the event of an emergency, weather reporting, smartphone app access, and live traffic for models with navigation.
While Kia has added a larger touchscreen inside, the 2024 Kia Sorento range also features more equipment. The base S adds keyless entry and start with remote start, a shift-by-wire transmission selector, paddle shifters and new satin accents on the exterior door handles. The Sport and Sport + have added rear privacy glass, inbuilt navigation, lane trace assist and an auto-dimming mirror, while the GT-Line has added Matrix adaptive high beam, a rear camera mirror and side parking sensors.
Under the bonnet of the 2024 Kia Sorento remains identical to before with both a 200kW/332Nm 3.5-litre petrol V6 and a 148kW/440Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel with all-wheel drive on offer locally. Both are mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions, though the V6 uses a torque converter, while the diesel uses a dual-clutch setup. The V6 is rated at 9.7L/100km on the combined cycle for fuel economy, while the diesel is rated at just 6.1L/100km.
