Ahead of a likely 2024 Australian release, the 2024 Skoda Kamiq and Scala facelifts have been revealed. Sporting revised styling, new technological features and even recycled ecological interior trimmings, the updated Kamiq small SUV and Scala hatchback are fresher and more advanced in the fight against competitors. According to Skoda, the Kamiq has sold over 350,000 units in its lifespan, ahead of the larger Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs.
Klaus Zellmer, Chairman of the Board of Škoda Auto, says: “The Kamiq and the Scala redefined the compact class for our brand and beyond when they launched. We have now further refined both models, taking the design, interiors and functionality to the next level. The new Kamiq and Scala complement our strong ICE lineup and maintain their strong positions in the market.
Both the 2024 Skoda Kamiq and Scala have received revised styling, with sharper headlights and tailights, new bumpers and new wheels ranging up to 18-inches in size. In Europe, Matrix adaptive high beam technology is available on both cars for the first time – Australian specifications are yet to be announced – while hands-free kick-to-open functionality has been added for the electric tailgate.
On the inside, the 2024 Skoda Kamiq and Scala have also received a number of changes aimed at keeping both models fresh, and also more ecologically friendly. A new 10.25-inch central touchscreen is now available in European models – we expect it in Australia at least as a option – while the dual-zone climate control panel has been revised for better ease of use with new fan speed buttons.
According to Skoda, some of the interior parts of both the Kamiq and Scala are now more eco-friendly thanks to more recycled materials used throughout. For example, the water reservoir underneath the windscreen and the wheel arch linings are made from recycled plastics. On the inside, natural plant fibres from hemp and kenaf are used in the door trim panels and in the structure of the roof lining, alongside recycled fabrics for the upholstery, flooring and foot mats.
In Europe, the range of drivetrains for the 2024 Skoda Kamiq and Scala will consist of a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine in 70kW or 85kW forms, or a 110kW 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, all with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. We expect the current ’85TSI’ and ‘110TSI’ options in both the Kamiq and Scala to continue in Australia with a standard seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
While local pricing and specifications are yet to be announced, Skoda Australia recently announced that 2024 model year Kamiq and Scala models will now come with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as standard equipment, while all Kamiq models – and the top-spec Scala Signature – will have a power tailgate as standard.
The 2024 Skoda Kamiq and Scala will likely launch in Australia sometime in 2024, with local pricing and specifications to be announced before then. Stay tuned to DiscoverAuto for the latest automotive news and reviews.
