Hyundai Australia has introduced the second facelift for the i30 hatchback, with the 2025 Hyundai i30 now in dealers. Now sourced from the same Czech Republic factory as the i30 N hot hatch, the i30 hatchback is now only available in N Line and N Line Premium grades, with the former price-leading variants like the Active removed from the lineup. Pricing starts at $36,000 plus on-road costs, which is a $3,500 hike on the pre-facelift equivalent – though the price of entry has climbed $12,000 thanks to the deletion of entry-level models.

“With its new mild hybrid powertrain, refreshed styling, and richly equipped N Line and N Line Premium grades, the sporty and economical 2025 i30 is certain to delight our small-car customers,” Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ted Lee said.

On the outside, the 2025 Hyundai i30 has gained updated exterior styling – styling that has been available in Europe but was not to Australia because of the pre-update i30’s South Korean sourcing – with sharper bumpers and lighting units from the i30 N. New 18-inch alloy wheels also feature, along with upgraded active safety features like junction assistance for the AEB, braking for the blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert and highway driving assist for the N Line Premium.

The changes inside the 2025 Hyundai i30 are more subtle with a newly-digital driver’s display, new suede and leather upholstery and new features like memory seating for the N Line Premium’s driver seat, USB-C charging ports and the company’s ‘Bluelink’ live services features.

Under the bonnet of the 2025 Hyundai i30 range is a new (to Australia) drivetrain: a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system making 117kW of power (at 5,500rpm) and 253Nm of torque (between 1,500rpm to 3,500rpm). The i30’s 48-volt mild-hybrid system is capable of switching the engine off while coasting and also providing a small performance boost when setting off from a start to aid fuel economy. The sole transmission available is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

With the pre-facelift N Line’s 150kW 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine no longer made for the i30 hatchback, the new 1.5-litre unit is now the most powerful non-N i30 hatchback available globally. It produces similar power but more torque – versus 120kW and 203Nm – than the formerly available 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine from the pre-updated i30. At just 5.6L/100km, its claimed combined cycle fuel consumption is almost 2.0L/100km less than that 2.0-litre engine and its combined CO2 emissions are rated at 126 g/km – almost 50g/km less.
