The all-new 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado has officially arrived in Australia, bringing in a new generation for the popular SUV which has started to get a little too long in the tooth. After what seems like an eternity, the 2025 model is available in five distinct variants: GX, GXL, VX, Altitude, and Kakadu, offering a range of features and clever tech to suit a myriad of buyers seeking a capable 4×4, which can double as the family car around town.

At the heart of the Prado is a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, paired with Toyota’s innovative 48V V-Active mild-hybrid technology. This powertrain delivers 150kW and 500Nm, mated to a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission. Coupled with a full-time four-wheel drive system, a dual-range transfer case, and a centre lockable limited-slip differential, the 2025 Prado is ready for both rugged off-road adventures and urban commuting.

Alongside the excellent LC300 Toyota LandCruiser, and the ever popular 70-series LandCruiser, Toyota’s off-roading family is now complete with the arrival of the Prado.

2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado: High Demand Means Long Wait for Buyers

After the current model’s hiatus and fall from the sales charts, the new Toyota LandCruiser Prado is set to break sales records in Australia, but some buyers may face a wait of up to 12 months for delivery.

Toyota Australia has confirmed that 27,000 units of the 2025 Prado 250 Series will be available in Australia over the next 12 months. However, with over 17,000 orders already placed, more than half of the initial stock has already been spoken for.

Expect to see some high demand and even longer waiting times for some customers. This comes after similar issues with other popular models, including the RAV4, LandCruiser 300 Series, and Kluger, which all saw lengthy wait times after their releases. Heck, it still takes almost a year to get a new Corolla Cross.

To manage the demand, Toyota will implement a new allocation system to give customers more certainty. Under the new approach, dealers will receive a 12-month allocation of vehicles, which they can take orders and deposits for. Once a dealer’s allocation is filled, they will not be able to place new orders until their next allocation arrives.
