Ahead of imminent local deliveries, the MG Cyberster electric roadster has gone on sale in Australia priced from $115,000 plus on-road costs. Offered only in one initial dual-motor all-wheel drive specification for the moment, the Cyberster pumps out 375kW of power and 725Nm of torque for a claimed 0-100km/h time of just 3.2 seconds, while it also offers a claimed WLTP range of 443km thanks to a 77kWh lithium-ion battery.
MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO Peter Ciao said: “MG Cyberster marks a groundbreaking evolution for our brand, seamlessly merging the legacy of MG Roadsters with a daring, forward-thinking vision. Its bold design and exhilarating performance sets an unprecedented standard, making it one of the most advanced vehicles MG has ever unveiled.”
“The all-new MG Cyberster presents uncompromising levels of power and performance, while also continuing our development as a leader in the electric vehicle space here in Australia.”
Under the body of the Cyberster is the same ‘Modular Scalable Platform’ architecture used by the MG 4 and in Australia, the Cyberster features a 77kWh lithium-ion battery for a claimed 443km of range (WLTP). It can be charged at up to 144kW on a DC fast charger and at that speed, a 10-80% charge takes a claimed 40 minutes (or 61 minutes using a more common 50kW charger). It can be charged at up to 11kW on an AC charger for a full charge in around nine hours.
Powering the Cyberster in Australia is a dual-motor all-wheel drive drivetrain making 375kW of power and 725Nm of torque. The claimed 0-100km/h sprint time is just 3.2 seconds and it can reportedly hit a top speed of 208km/h. Helping tame the performance and 1,985kg tare mass are features like Brembo front callipers and 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli tyres. In some overseas markets, a lighter single motor rear-wheel drive model is offered, as well as an available smaller 64kWh battery, making 250kW – it’s yet to be announced for Australia as yet.
